Yes, there is this element of missing traceability and the maintenance of the template scripts and similar artifacts. Of course this area needs improving and this is where the development community to make its case and take it to the provider, AWS in this case, and demand for better tooling and practices around it.

Speaking with few experts in this area, the noise is certainly getting louder. Hopefully it is a matter of time before our voices are heard.
